Held weekly at The Lounge at 4 High St., Brattleboro, Vermont with host Dede Cummings, a writer and poet, publisher and founder of Green Writers Press in Brattleboro

Special guest, debut novelist, James Hornor. His book entitled Victoria Falls will be published in spring 2018 by Green Writers Press.

James Hornor teaches composition and directs the Mid-Coast Writing Center at Southern Maine Community College. He has been a Lead Presenter at the CEEB Annual Advanced Placement Conference and an Examiner for International Baccalaureate. His workshop on point of view challenges participants to consider multiple points of view as a gateway to credibility and authenticity in their own writing.

Special guest, Brattleboro writer/memoirist, Danielle Sessler

Danielle Sessler is a local writer who moved from Brooklyn in early 2017 to finish her first book, a memoir, in Brattleboro. She will talk about releasing memories and crafting them into a compelling story, and offer a writing prompt to unlock our own memoirs we have within us.

Dede Cummings holds a BA from Middlebury College in Literature where she was also a poetry contributor at the Bread Loaf Writers Conference and was the recipient of the Mary Dunning Thwing Award. In 1991, she received an award to study with Hayden Carruth at the Bennington Writers’ Workshop. Dede has had her poetry published in Mademoiselle magazine and ConnotationPress.com. She was a Discovery/The Nation poetry semi-finalist, and a Vermont State Poetry Broadside Finalist (Feb., 2013), and currently writes in a salon hosted by the author Suzanne Kingsbury where she lives in Brattleboro, Vermont. Dede is a 2010 graduate of the Harvard Medical School’s Department of Continuing Education course “Publishing Books, Memoirs and Other Creative Non-Fiction,” under the direction of Julie Silver, M.D. Her first book, Living With Crohn’s & Colitis: A Comprehensive Naturopathic Guide for Complete Digestive Wellness, was published in 2010 by Hatherleigh Press and distributed by Random House. Dede's first poetry collection entitled TO LOOK OUT FROM won the Homebound Publications 2016 Poetry Prize and will be published April, 2017. Dede is a public radio commentator for Vermont Public Radio (www.vpr.net).
